How does the author use iconography in the story to persuade the audience to feel a certain way?
Do repetitions and patterns in the text help add to the story or take away from it?
How do multimodal elements draw in the reader? Does a piece of literature need multimodal elements to be a success?
Any suggestions on a thesis would be appreciated = ]
I was going to be looking into the iconography used in American Born Chinese. I will be focusing in on how the shoes and the transformer added to the story by foreshadowing and symbolism.

I like your idea of writing about literature being multimodal and its affect. It would be interesting to see if the reader would still be drawn to the book if this concept wasnt there.
I actually wrote about the symbolism between the shoes and the Transformer in my second response paper and found it was very easy to write about since the idea behind it is so great! I do however like your multimodial thesis idea...good thoughts!
I think your iconography idea has a bit more "purpose" at this point. It also allows you to focus on smaller portions of the text, and keeps you from over-generalizing. Start by choosing a select set (small set) of panels that you want to examine and consider what questions arise from these panels. Careful study of these panels should help you to develop the thesis that will become the focal argument of your paper. This is a great idea :)
